Disasters create unlikely heroes, which is what cowardly Simon finds out when he's innocently toiling away, drilling holes to expand his stifling sky-less village. He soon discovers a small, glowing drillbit as well as the man-sized mecha it activates. Next thing he knows, he's dragged into a plot to break through to the surface by Kamina, the local gang leader. But it's more than just a monkey on their back when the ceiling comes crashing down and they've got a giant monster wreaking havoc. If Kamina and Simon can actually defeat the monster, just what awaits the duo on the surface?
