In an effort to subdue a bout of depression, Ernest Bliss, a British millionaire playboy (Cary Grant), makes a 50,000 pound bet with a psychiatrist (Peter Gawthorne) that he can become a famous business tycoon without using his family's inheritance. Bliss, who has never worked a day in his life, proceeds to spend the next year struggling to make his way without touching a drop of the cash that was willed to him. This comedy is based on the novel THE AMAZING QUEST OF ERNEST BLISS.
